1. Tagging Guide for Verse

The following tags are used for the markup of verse components in the Imaginary Punch Project:

div
Contains any kind of page division. Consists of an optional <head>, followed by any mixture of <l>, <lb>, or <lg>s, followed by an optional <signed>. Attribute n gives the serial number, and type specifies the kind of material.
emph
Contains any emphatic words. Consists of text and possibly <lb>s.
head
Contains a heading. Consists of text. Attribute type indicates the kind of heading.
l
Contains a line of verse. Consists of text, possibly mixed with any number of <emph>, <q>, or <lb>s. No attributes.
lg
Contains a group of verse lines or stanza. Consists of an optional <head>, followed by one or more <l> or <lb>s. Attribute n specifies a number.
lb
Marks the point where an unexpected line break occurs. Empty element. Attribute n supplies a number.
q
Marks a piece of direct (quoted) speech. Consists of text, possibly mixed with <lb>s. No attributes.
signed
Contains a signature. Consists of text. No attributes.
