2. Previous versions of the Guidelines

The following draft versions of the TEI Guidelines are preserved for historical interest only and have no normative value.

1. TEI P1 Guidelines for the Encoding and Interchange of Machine Readable Texts First draft 16 July 1990; Draft Version 1.1 1 Nov 1990 49 files in Waterloo Script format: as a single file archive (240 kb); DTD files: as a single file archive
2. TEI P2 Guidelines for the Encoding and Interchange of Machine Readable Texts Draft P2 (published serially 1992-1993); Draft Version 2 of April 1993: 19 chapters. In P2X/REF format: as a single file archive (700 kb); in plain text format: as a single file archive (650 kb); DTD files: as a single file archive (212 kb)

   • TEI P3 P3 (final revision; published electronically as ‘P4-beta’, May 1999): in HTML format: as a single file archive (1.6 Mb) or browsable online; in P3X format as a single file archive (1 Mb); nicely formatted as a single PDF file.
